Henry Colbert, 31, is a single guy who, after a decade of partying and a plethora of girlfriends, decides what he really wants more than anything is a real relationship. His curiosity is peaked after a chance meeting with Madam Pauline, a renowned psychic, who comments on personal matters only Henry would understand, and he visits her to obtain a full psychic reading.
Pauline provides Henry with a pleasant surprise and the answer to his unspoken prayers – a woman will enter his life shortly who will bring him true love and happiness – IF- he can manage a difficulty or confusion that will require great patience on his part.
Three days later Henry meets Cathy, a woman who fits ALL the criteria Pauline had provided him, including the difficulty part – as Cathy makes it clear from their first conversation she’s not interested in dating! Henry makes the decision to prove how patient he can be, and using humor and persistence, finally persuades Cathy to change her mind and go out with him.
After a few dates it’s apparent Henry and Cathy are more mismatched souls than matching hearts, but Henry doesn’t care because his desire to be in love trumps everything and everyone else. Remembering Pauline’s cautionary note about patience, Henry remains determined to make the relationship work. Even after Henry uncovers a secret about Cathy that makes him angry and frustrated, he still allows her to explain in the hopes it might bring them closer together. And while it does, their serenity doesn’t last long, before a second pivotal event ends with Henry slamming the door on their relationship, hurt and upset. This time Cathy comes to Henry with an olive branch and a chance for reconciliation. Each rocky event in their relationship see-saws Henry between giving up and wanting more, until finally he concludes that what Cathy needs is to have one person in her life who makes a commitment and sticks to it. Wanting and believing that person to be him, Henry decides to tell Cathy everything about the psychic in order to allow her to understand that their destiny is together. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, Henry visits a jewelry store so he prove to Cathy how serious he is.
After a very nervous Henry divulges the truth about his meeting with Madam Pauline and his inside knowledge of their eventual paths to togetherness, Cathy reveals some secrets of her own, and sets off a chain of events no one expected. This new information forces Henry to acknowledge that love is never predictable.
Or is it?
