October 2011 update
An artist and filmmaker for many years, Emil is well known and recognized in the Buffalo and Western New York communities. Since “Henry’s Future” wrapped, Emil has taken on two new and interesting endeavors: co-founding the Buffalo Screams Film Festival (an annual event focused on horror, sci-fi, fantasy and suspense films), and participating Buffalo’s Comic-Con, where he can mix his love of comic books and graphic novels in a fun, adventurous setting!
Emil’s work as an fine art artist continues to this day. In ‘art circles’ Emil is noted as a professional freelance artist; comic book penciler, inker and colorist; graphic artist; art designer; and illustrator. His work has been influenced by the German expressionistic movement, light & shadows, psychedelic/progressive imagery, 1900’s illustrators, and the comic book art of Jack "The King" Kirby, N.C. Wyeth, and Franklin Booth.. His artistry on paper has appeared on the front cover of Artvoice as well as numerous covers for the Buffalo’s Bison Baseball magazine. He also served as past publisher of Buffalo Nickel Comics for three years.
In the last three years Emil has kept busy, returning to work on several of Buffalo Nickel Productions’ projects (“Tesla” (drama about Nicholas Tesla), “Decayed”, “Something Dark”, “Banshee”). He provided production and camera services to Greg Lamberson’s “Slime City Massacre” (where you can see him in an un-credited role as a homeless guy warming his hands over the fire!), as worked as a Lighting Technician and cameraman for "Aprils Future" (http://www.facebook.com/aprilsfoolmovie), as well as numerous short and feature film projects that originated in Buffalo and from production houses bringing work into Buffalo/WNY to film. He was co-director and production manager for Ollagnod Productions’ annual short film entries for the Buffalo 48 Hour Film Festival; 2009’s “Mary’s Christmas”, 2010’s “Homecoming” and 2011’s “The Au Pair”.
Buffalo Nickel Productions assists local companies and people with business-related production, including writing, storyboarding, production and editing. Recent work includes music videos, commercials for TV (My Tomato Pie), and in-house training and educational films.
Later this month, Emil will hold a special ‘preview screening’ of his latest feature film, “Decayed” (an anthology of four short films with a thru-theme), for one night only, to cast crew and fans. A hopeful November or December release plans to follow.
